(AhlulBayt News Agency) - ISIS has begun a campaign of bombing public administrative buildings in central Mosul, according to a source from Nineveh Police department.
Ameer Wathiq, an officer from Nineveh Police, confirmed on Wednesday that the militants have bombed a number of buildings in Mosul, including the Nineveh Govenorate building.
Wathiq said that "the blast seriously damaged shops and buildings close to the Nineveh Governorate building in al-Jamhouriah Street in the centre of Mosul."
IS militants use a huge amount of TNT explosive, which results in the complete destruction of the buildings, he said.
The militants also exploded the building of the Nationality and Passport Directorate which severely affected the nearby buildings and wounded about 16 civilians, including children as a result of the flying shrapnel and pieces of broken glass, he said.
He pointed out that the IS militants also exploded 10 of its offices in the city of Mosul after transferring all the documents and archives to an unknown destination.
According to the officer, this step of the terrorist group indicates that it is certain about its defeat in Mosul and the loss of the city is only a matter of time, particularly after it has been surrounded by the Iraqi forces.
